For many years, Knight Foundation has supported programs in your community. Now, they are partnering with NORC at the University of Chicago to launch a new effort to better understand what makes communities strong and successful. By gathering feedback from residents through this survey, Knight and NORC hope to identify community strengths and understand areas for improvement. The research will also help build a broader understanding of community well-being across the country.
The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
The short survey will help residents and local leaders better understand life in your community and identify where there may be opportunities for improvement.
We selected your household by random chance among adults in your local area using the United States Postal Service Computerized Delivery Sequence File. Your views will represent thousands of people similar to you. In addition, this survey is being shared by community organizations and other local partners, including through a QR code, so anyone in your community is welcome to participate.
All residents who are 18 and older and live in your community are invited to participate.
NORC at the University of Chicago is conducting this study in partnership with Knight Foundation. NORC is a nonpartisan, nonprofit research organization with more than 80 years of experience conducting high-quality surveys for government, nonprofit and social service organizations. NORC is headquartered in Chicago, with staff nationwide. NORC will not try to sell you anything and is not affiliated with any political interests. Knight Foundation chose NORC to conduct the survey based on its expertise and commitment to objective, credible research.

Your responses are confidential. NORC takes steps to protect participant privacy, and no identifying information will be shared with anyone outside of the NORC research team. No reports will contain names or other information that identifies you.
